About the project
Inspired by my kid's toys and my love for space exploration, this project came to be. It was also a great excuse to practice UV mapping.

Project: speedify
my role: 3D Design, Animation, Lighting, Texturing
My pals at Remade reached out to put together an explainer animation for Speedify - a software that helps keep your internet service from being interrupted. In this nearly, all 3D piece we got to visualize how Speedify can keep you connected if your wifi goes down, and how it can super-charge your connection by using all available devices in your network.
We had fun with the overall look - keeping it more corporate with a fun, stylized twist and an ending worthy of SimCity. With floors flipping and devices flying around it was really great seeing this project come to life.
PROCESS
Animating the Pea Pod opening presented a tricky task, as we wanted to open in a zipper type manner. The Cinema 4D posemorph was the go-to place to start, however you cannot use fields with it. After some research, when you add in a Morph deformer then you can have access to the powerful fields system to control how to animate between open and closed positions.
Having a solid animatic is key. All the timing and movements are blocked out in a clear way so there are no big surprises when it comes to animation. Here is a snapshot of how the animatic informed the animation and helps to stay on the same page throughout the animation process. Being provided an animatic of this quality helps the animation stage to go very smooth.
